Change, sales tax rate

New local sales tax rates hit Kansas, January 1, 2017.

Numerous local sales and use tax rate changes are scheduled to take effect in Kansas on January 1, 2017. Affected locations are listed below with new combined state and local tax rates.

City rate changes

  • Horton: 9.5%
  • Jetmore: 9.15%
  • Oswego: 9.25%
  • Rolla: 8.5%
  • St. John: 8.5%
  • Stockton: 9.5%
  • Valley Falls: 9.5%

County rate changes

  • Brown County: new rate of 7.5% due to a 1% increase, which also affects the following cities:
    • Everest: 7.5%
    • Fairview: 7.5%
    • Hamlin: 7.5%
    • Hiawatha: 8.5%
    • Hiawatha Hotel CID: 10.5%
    • Horton: 9.5%
    • Morrill: 7.5%
    • Powhattan: 7.5%
    • Reserve: 7.5%
    • Robinson: 7.5%
    • Sabetha: 8.5%
    • Willis: 7.5%
  • Rawlins County: new rate of 7.5% due to a 1% increase, which also affects the following cities:
    • Atwood: 7.5%
    • Herndon: 7.5%
    • McDonald: 7.5%

Special district rate changes

  • Chanute Santa Fe Ave CID: a 1% rate increase, bringing the new rate to 9.75%
  • Cunningham CID: a 2% rate increase, bringing the new rate to 10.25%
  • Topeka Cyrus Hotel CID: a 1% rate increase, bringing the new rate to 10.15%

Special district address range changes:

Address ranges in the following special districts change, effective January 1, 2017:

  • Kansas City Schlitterbahn CID: 11.125%
  • Kansas City Schlitterbahn STAR BOND: 9.125%
