Microsoft has acquired a few software systems over the last few years – and all of Microsoft Dynamics systems do not provide an easy, affordable means for managing sales tax compliance. Independent Systems has been addressing this issue for Microsoft customers informally since 1997.
Independent Systems formalized our relationship with Microsoft in 2004, via Microsoft ISV Business Partner certification.

All offerings from Independent Systems are fully-integrated solutions, offering monthly updates for the sales tax database and optional sales tax software for state tax return preparation and remittance.
There is one thing all Microsoft software systems have in common: Sales tax compliance is a time-consuming, monotonous chore, which is often considered “busy work” - and is exceedingly difficult for “in-house” employees to manage along with all of their other job responsibilities. (Another issue which goes hand-in-hand with employees trying to “handle” sales tax compliance is reduced accuracy when the inevitable sales tax audit occurs.)
