A number of Kansas local sales tax rate changes have been announced by the Kansas Department of Revenue. Details are available in the new Kansas Information Guide KS-1700.

The City Council of Clay Center approved a 0.5% increase to the retail sales tax from 8.650% to 9.150%.

Parsons City will increase retailer’s sales tax by 0.5%, from 8.4% to 8.9%.

The City of Pittsburg will increase its sales and use tax by 0.5%, from 8.4% to 8.9%. Pittsburg will also increase the TDD by 0.5%, from 8.7% to 9.2%.

The rate of sales tax in Wellington will drop by 0.25% to 8.150%.

In addition, three new tax districts will be created in January 2014 and one will disappear:

  • Garden City Stone Development CID, with a rate of 9.30%;
  • Kansas City Metropolitan Avenue CID, with a rate of 9.775%; and
  • Shawnee Plaza TDD, with a rate of9.625%.
  • The Salt Mine Museum Star Bond District will be terminated.
